Sometimes the actual answers matter and sometimes they do not. Ones I see often include: a) the ability to reflect on and learn from an experience b) the ability to quickly pivot c) how quickly someone can assess a situation and develop a strategy to maximize their benefit from that reality. Some know which types they prefer to work with. They may be personality traits that are helpful in that specific line of work, or ones which the leader knows help people succeed. Good leaders think deeply about which traits they value in people and why. So when you meet with people you are thinking of hiring, what is your approach? Do you leave it to the HR department to screen out the top three? While many companies gradually introduce their new staff to higher responsibilities, they also heavily invest in ways to identify the best prospects before they have to commit anything to them. While they are unlikely to command the attention of millions of people while going about their jobs, your new recruits will have a say in the success of your company. In short, these teams want to know who they are dealing with and whether or not this person is just as likely to be on TMZ as they are ESPN.Īs a business leader, you have plenty at stake when you consider people to add to your team. ![]()
